Memphis Collision Sends Two to Hospital, Shuts Down Major Intersection

Memphis, TN - A serious car crash at the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Ridgeway Road brought rush hour traffic to a standstill this morning and resulted in two individuals being transported to local hospitals. The accident, involving a sedan and a pickup truck, occurred shortly after 8:00 AM, according to Memphis Police Department (MPD) reports.

Initial investigations suggest that one of the vehicles may have run a red light, although the exact cause is still under investigation. "We're still piecing together the sequence of events leading up to the collision," stated Officer Sarah Miller, a spokesperson for the MPD. "Our Traffic Unit is on scene collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses."

Emergency responders were quick to arrive at the scene. Firefighters worked to extract the driver of the sedan, who was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle. Both drivers were transported to Regional One Health. Their conditions are currently unknown.
